Codename: Bit

2011

Work on my newest app is in the second stage of my development cycle!  Which basically means the main outline, gameplay and content factors are complete and now I’m working on actual visual/audio content creation and implementation.  A month or so ago I was actually working on a different game, but this new game which I’m referring to as Codename:Bit for now, has taken over.  I got the idea for it a couple of weeks ago late at night, and I immediately started working on it when time permitted.

The original game I was working on is still an ongoing project of mine that I will eventually get to and it’s going to be fun too, but it must wait.  I only like working on one app at a time during the first stages of development so I had to press pause on that game.  This app I’m working on now is going to be a very unique game that has great playability with different modes depending on what kind of experience you want to receive.  I don’t want to go into much detail with it because the Apple app store is very competitive so keeping details hidden until its release is important to me.

Without going into detail I will state that visuals, playability, and music are three major components of this game.  I know not everybody likes music in games so you don’t have to play it with the music on but I think it adds a lot of exciting substance to the game.  I will also note that a small inspiration for this app is a game called Geometry Wars 2 Retro Evolved.  My app isn’t going to look just like or play just like Geometry Wars and they’re going to be very different but there’s a couple of small components that they seem to have in common.  There are many other games that have these same components too, but Geometry Wars sticks out to me as a small influence.  Probably because its one of my favorite games.  That game was developed by a great team called Bizzare Creations that was unfortunately let go by their publisher earlier this year.  However some of the guys have formed new teams so that’s good.

Anyways, that’s enough of yapping about this new app and et cetera for now.  I’m having fun working on it when things are going smooth, which so far has been the majority of the time.  I don’t have a lot of free time to work on apps so development is going to be somewhat sparse.  However, I’m planning on being completely done with it within the next couple of months and releasing it this summer if things go well.  To be continued……
