(Currently only available on the iOS App Store because Apple has the only App Store that allows app bundles)

Word Owl’s Word Search apps are neat, big, educational & colorful word search games for kids of various ages. These apps feature popular sight words that account for a large percentage of the words used in literature for children at each grade level. The Kindergarten edition has slightly over 150 sight words, the First & Second Grade editions have 200 sight words each, and the Third Grade edition has over 300 sight words.

All of these apps also have different letter and background colors that can be changed in the options menu as well as settings for audio. For all of the apps you simply slide your finger across the letters to form a word that’s displayed on the left side of the screen. The words are in the word search vertically, horizontally, and diagonally. All of the words in the Kindergarten & First Grade editions are displayed in a forward facing manner. The Second & Third Grade editions both also have words that are displayed backwards for increased difficulty. The Third Grade edition also has a bigger game board for additional difficulty.

With this bundle you’re getting four apps for the price of two!

(Sight words are commonly used words that children are encouraged to memorize as a whole by sight, so that they can automatically recognize these words when they see them without having to use any distracting strategies. Sight words account for a large percentage of the words used in literature for children. One advantage for children being able to recognize sight words automatically is that the child will be able to identify the majority of words in a book before they even attempt to read it. When the child is able to do that they’ll be able to concentrate on the meaning and comprehension as they read without having to stop to figure out the actual word.)
