Word Owl’s Wordsearch: Kindergarten Edition is now available on the Apple iOS App Store for iPad! I was previously unable to release this app on Apple due to an issue with iOS 7, but that issue has been resolved so now it’s available.

Word Owl’s WordSearch is a neat, big, and colorful word search for children. This Kindergarten Edition of Word Owl’s Wordsearch features over 100 sight words for children in or around Kindergarten. These words have been gathered from numerous sight word lists provided by real Kindergarten classes in different schools. Help your kid learn and retain several words while having fun!

√ Over 100 different sight words
√ 10 words to find per puzzle
√ Customizable letter and background colors
√ Sharp colorful retina resolution graphics

(Sight words are commonly used words that children are encouraged to memorize as a whole by sight, so that they can automatically recognize these words when they see them without having to use any distracting strategies. Sight words account for a large percentage of the words used in literature for children. One advantage for children being able to recognize sight words automatically is that the child will be able to identify the majority of words in a book before they even attempt to read it. When the child is able to do that they’ll be able to concentrate on the meaning and comprehension instead of trying to figure out the word.)

New Release: Light Up The Tree!

8 Dec
2011

(Available on the Apple, Amazon, & Google Play App Stores)

Light Up The Tree! is a fun & festive game for kids, parents, and people who love Christmas and the holiday season. This app is colorful, musical, and filled with holiday joy. The lights flash and they also create particle effects when touched. There are 3 separate game modes in this unique puzzle game.

1. Turn On The Lights: Try to light up the entire Christmas tree by tapping the lights. The lights will randomly turn off after a few seconds so get those fingers moving!

2. Just Colors: Change all of the lights on the tree to the same color by double tapping them. The lights will casually change color so watch out!

3. Colors and Numbers: This game mode will randomly choose a color and number and you must match that color/number combination by double tapping the lights on the tree. Pay attention and act quickly because the lights will randomly change color.

Learn while having fun:
The interaction with the five holiday colors and numbers(0-10) can help develop and improve the understanding of colors and numbers. The switching of color on the lights also adds a unique puzzle element to the Just Colors & Colors and Numbers game modes.

Playing this app can also enhance and build upon motor skills and eye-hand coordination.

(If the game becomes too easy for you, try switching to your non-dominant hand.)
