Turn off the TV, put down the controller, log off of the social networks, grab your drink of choice, find a comfortable area to sit or lay down, open up this app.
_
Rest, Relax, and Reflect with rainfall, snowfall, a fireplace, or space travel.
_
Each category has 5 different scenes with 4 different sound tone and animation level options. You can also strip the color out and transform any scene into black & white with the press of a button. Real sound effects, HD graphics, real background scenes(except space travel….maybe), and no annoying loop pauses. I almost fell asleep several times while developing and testing this app. It easily helped me relax even when I wasn’t trying to.
_
This app is also universal, so once you download it you can use it on an iPhone, iPod Touch, and iPad. There’s also no internet connection required after downloading it. So you can enjoy the scenes without worrying about streaming anything and using data. Rest, Relax and Reflect is one of the best relaxation apps on the Apple iOS App Store. Use this app for meditation, relaxation, lowering blood pressure, reducing stress, help falling asleep and more.
_
Rest, Relax, and Reflect isn’t just an app though, it’s an experience. Embrace it.

Now Available On The Amazon Appstore For Android

24 Feb
2012

It’s official!  I’m now a part of the Amazon Android & Kindle Fire App Store.  Ultra Fortune Ball & Chinatown Fortune Cookie were both approved and released on February 22nd.  I’m very excited about expanding over to that market.  When the Fire was announced last year it sparked my interest in the device.  Then when I learned more about the Amazon Android App Store I knew I wanted to be a part of it.  So I bought a Kindle Fire earlier this month for testing and etc and I haven’t been disappointed with it at all.  It’s a really neat device and the App Store is solid.  As of writing this post, Chinatown Fortune Cookie is #72 in the Entertainment category!  Hopefully it will continue is rise! (Edit: #34 in Entertainment as of 02/25!)

With a new device & market comes new responsibilities.  I had to get accustomed to the screen size and resolution on the Fire since I’ve been developing specially for the iPhone & iPod Touch for the past year.  Luckily I’ve been doing graphics in retina resolution so I didn’t have to redo any graphics for the 2 apps that I’ve ported.  However, I did have to go back and update some sections of the code and etc to make sure the apps adapted to the screen size.  Then after testing and going back and tweaking some things a few times I ended up with two quality apps ready for submission to the Amazon Appstore.  I’m also working on porting Lightspeed Bit Bit over there but I’m currently running into a sound FX delay problem.  I don’t ever want to be a developer that rushes too much and submits unfinished products with known problems, so I’m going to make sure it’s running smoothly before submitting it.

The customer service in the Amazon Developer Portal has been great also.  I’ve contacted them a few times about different issues and they were helpful, kind, and quick.  The FAQs and information for developers is efficient and understandable.  The testing and submission process is different from Apple, but it didn’t take me long to get accustomed to it.  I like how everything is basically laid out in the same area on the website after the initial developer setup.  I also really like the fact that the Amazon Appstore isn’t incredibly cluttered……yet.  Hopefully their review process is more strict than Apple so poor quality and rip off/clone apps aren’t accepted.

I’ll continue to develop for the iPhone and iPod Touch of course, but the Kindle Fire will be right next to them now.  I’ll also make sure my Kindle Fire apps support other Android phones & tablets as well.  I’ve never owned an iPad so I haven’t developed for it yet.  However, I do want to develop apps for it and I’ve been hearing some very interesting things about the iPad 3.  I’m actually working on 2 apps currently that I would like to release on the iPad so I may very get an iPad 3 if it’s released in March as rumored.  Well this post is about the Amazon Appstore for Android so I won’t drift off course about that.  In wrapping this up I’d like to say thanks to Amazon & Android for being awesome.  I feel great about developing for the Amazon Appstore for Android, and I can’t wait to release more apps on it.

I’ll be updating the Apps/Games section of my website soon since the list is getting long and also because of my expansion to this new market.  For now, here’s a link to my apps on the Amazon Android Appstore:                                                              www.amazon.com/gp/mas/dl/android?p=com.futurenewbapps.chinatownfortunecookie&showAll=1

Lightspeed Bit Bit – Now Available in the App Store!

29 Jan
2012

Oh yes, today is the day.  My new game Lightspeed Bit Bit is now available on the Apple App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch!  I like the art style a lot, as well as the gameplay, design, music and the controls.  Well yea there’s no holding it back with this one, I’m a big fan of the entire game.  I started developing this game back in April 2011, but I took a couple of breaks away from it to develop and release 4 other apps.  So yea 2011 was a busy year for me.  I had a lot of fun working on Lightspeed Bit Bit and I learned a lot about game design and development while working on it.

The fact that I’ve never played anything like it before helped make the entire process more exciting.  Everything that you see and hear on the game was created by me.  Even though I’ve heard the music for it probably hundreds of times I still like listening to all of it.  There were a lot of late nights that I spent working on this game in the past few months and I’m excited for its release on the App Store.  So far the responses from the people who’ve seen or played it have been very positive.  I’m very proud of this game and I think it’s awesome.  Well without further ado or adieu, I present to you, Lightspeed Bit Bit.

Lightspeed Bit Bit is a futuristic retro neon stylized arcade game that’s for dedicated gamers and casual gamers who like to be challenged. The simple one finger control makes it easy for anybody to pick up and play, but the challenge varies depending on your skill and what mode you’re playing. Lightspeed Bit Bit has three unique game modes.

Bit Bit Mode: This is the main mode of the game. There are three difficulties-Easy, Medium, and Insane. Your ship loses a little bit of health every second and also when you collect the wrong color bit. You must collect bits that match the color of your ship to add to your health and score. Your ship randomly changes color and each ship has its own personal chiptune music theme. There are also power-ups that randomly appear. There is a Gamecenter leaderboard for each difficulty.

Obstacle Mode: Your goal in this mode is to reach the finish line. Each level has 3 stars that can be collected if you want to challenge yourself. Watch out for the cosmic blocks, they do massive damage.

One Bit Mode: This mode is locked until you meet or surpass a certain score on Bit Bit Mode. This mode has the same concept as Bit Bit Mode, except there’s only one difficulty…….Brutal. Your ship changes color every time you get the correct color bit, but if you get the wrong color bit…..it’s gameover…….until you press restart.

Lightspeed Bit Bit is a fun & intense game with quick and smooth one finger controls that has unique immersive gameplay. This is a game that you can pick up and play anytime. I’ll see you on the leaderboards.

When the ship changes color, the game changes, and the music!

Chinatown Fortune Cookie – Now Available in the App Store!

9 Jan
2012

My new app Chinatown Fortune Cookie is now available in the Apple App Store for the iPhone and iPod Touch.  It was previously referred to as “Codename Ultra” because I was going to name it Ultra Fortune Cookie.  I decided to name it Chinatown Fortune Cookie instead because of the realistic look and feel of the app, and I don’t want people to think it’s related to my other app, Ultra Fortune Ball, because they are very different from each other.  I hope you enjoy it if you download it.  It’s a very neat app that can be used for motivation, inspiration, randomness, a good laugh or a realization.

Here’s my official description for it:

Chinatown Fortune Cookie is a high quality authentic fortune cookie app. It’s equipped with an enormous amount of fortunes, almost endless in quantity.

>You are actually opening up a fortune cookie with this app. The cookie breaks open with an animation, makes a sound, and reveals your fortune to you seamlessly.

>There’s also a group of lucky numbers on the back of each fortune.

>Featuring photo realistic graphics stylized with an oil painting effect. This app will also display at enhanced retina resolution on supported devices for a sharper look.

>Chinatown Fortune Cookie is often filled with motivation, but sometimes it can be really straightforward and/or funny. It’s easily one of the best fortune apps on the App Store.

>You can open a fortune cookie once a day, every time you eat a meal, or as many times as you feel like. There are no limits, but it feels more special if you only do it once or twice a day.

Have a great day!
